The Hutch is a pastel painting where a Sussex Cockerel has taken up residence in the open rustic rabbit hutch. It has cut tree trunks stored on its roof. From high up the cockerel surveys the hens below as they forage around the terracotta pots and watering cans. Over The Hedge was inspired by an Autumn Heavy Horse working day at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse in Norfolk. It is part of the Museum of Norfolk Life, a tourist destination that aims to educate and keep the old rural heritage skills alive.
